Swiss president to visit Bulgaria 29 October BBC - 2003/10/23
President Pascal Couchepin of Switzerland will pay an official visit to Bulgaria 29 October-1 November at the invitation of President Georgi Purvanov of Bulgaria, Purvanov's Press Secretariat said Wednesday [22 October].
The two heads of state are scheduled to have a one-to-one session, before plenary talks between the two delegations. Couchepin will confer with Prime Minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha and National Assembly Chairman Ognyan Gerdzhikov.
The Swiss president will deliver a public lecture before members of the Centre for the Study of Democracy, The Atlantic Club of Bulgaria, and the Bulgarian Diplomatic Society. The guest will visit the Rila Monastery and the towns of Sandanski and Melnik (southwestern Bulgaria).
Within the framework of the visit, the two countries are to sign an intergovernmental agreement on reciprocal abolition of visa requirements, the Bulgarian President's Press Secretariat said.
