Bulgarian firms buy 100,000 new PCs in '04 ALL - 2005/8/4
Bulgarian businesses bought some 90,000-100,000 new computers in 2004, up 50-60% year-on-year, shows data of the Applied Research and Communications Fund showcased in the e-Bulgaria 2005 Report.
The robust development of domestic telecom start-ups coupled with the profusion of LANs to boost by 100% the sales of network equipment.
The rate of PC adoption at work and at home suggests that the number of computers in use could vault over 1.5 mln units by end-2005. Some 750,000-800,000 computers were in use at the beginning of 2005.
Despite the brisk growth of the ITC market, Bulgaria still lags relevant EU averages. Half of SMEs, 25% of micro-enterprises and 24% of trade companies lack computer equipment, says the report. (Dnevnik)
