Bulgaria needs a midterm and long-term strategy for raising the competitiveness of its economy, says a report Bulgaria 2010: Economic Challenges prepared at he request of President Georgi Purvanov by experts from several non-governmental organizations, including the Center for the Study of Democracy and Applied Research and Communications Fund. The corruption and the deficiencies of the judicial system are cited by the authors of the report among the most serious problems Bulgaria is facing. They point out that the worries about drastic increase in prices after Bulgaria introduces the EURO in 2009-2010 are exaggerated as at that time Bulgaria will be a part of the common European economy.
